ABOUT

How the forest grows here

“Akpetki sands” is one of the Aralforest sites where we restore plant cover on the former seabed. The soil is salty and shifting; seedlings are picked exactly for this climate — deep roots, tolerant of dry winds.

For the first year seedlings are hand-watered, then plantings move to independent rooting. After 3–5 years the plot becomes part of a stable green corridor that holds the soil and cuts the toxic dust storms over Central Asia.

All trees are geotagged, photographed regularly and covered by an annual donor report. The site is open to visits by arrangement with the local administration.
